Candace Imison, deputy director of policy at the Kings Fund, says 7,000 beds could be saved if alternatives were found to emergency admissions to NHS hospitals in England.

The health think tank have published a report this morning saying that some areas are sending many more people to A&E than other places.

Imison told the Today programme there is a four times difference between the areas that use their beds the least for people admitted as an emergency and those who do it the most.
