A pioneering archaeological scheme, which gets amateur archaeologists to join in the digging for a fee, wound up over the weekend.

The team behind the effort at Flag Fen in Cambridgeshire has already had requests to carry out more of these "crowdsourced and crowdfunded" digs, from Kent to the Orkney Isles.

Francis Pryor, who discovered the site in 1982, told the BBC's Jason Palmer the sort of archaeology they are dealing with was "very very slow and time consuming... you could throw money at it but you wouldn't actually be able to do the work".
