One of the biggest jobs in finance is up for grabs next year - the role of governor of the Bank of England.

Alastair Milne, a former adviser to the Bank of England, said it was an "impossible job" and really four jobs rolled into one.

He suggested Paul Tucker, Adair Turner and Lord O'Donnell among the more likely names as possible successors.

Labour MP Pat McFadden, a former business minister who sits on the Treasury Select Committee, gave his views on the list to take over when Sir Mervyn King steps down in June after ten years in the post.
