A number of Conservative backbenchers are fed up with increases in rail fares.

Mark Reckless, Conservative MP for Strood and Rochester in Kent, believes the fare rises will be "counterproductive".

Speaking to the Today programme he said retail price index inflation (RPI) linkages "don't really make any sense".

"This is a question of fairness for those who are working hard... not to charge them so much," he said.
