The Home Office is changing the definition of domestic violence by including what it is calling "coercive control".

Rachel Horman, head of domestic violence and forced marriage at the law firm Watson Ramsbottom in Blackburn, said coercive control "is a real issue for many victims" but she expressed concern over the fact that the new definition does not create additional criminal offences.

"It's hard to see how good this will actually be for victims," she told the Today programme.

"Without a real investment from the government... I'm worried it still won't be taken seriously," she added.
