On the last day of the Liberal Democrat party conference, Danny Alexander, chief secretary to the Treasury, joined the Today programme's Sarah Montague to talk about the Lib Dems' strategy and their future in government.

Mr Alexander denied blocking proposals to deal with social care, saying "We want to take forward the reform to social care", although did not specify when this was going to happen.

When confronted by allegations of entering into the Treasury along side George Osborne and "going native", he said the Lib Dems are delivering "extra money" and "tax cuts for millions".

"These are things that are happening because Liberal Democrats have their stamp not just on the government but on the Treasury too" he added.
