Alderney's online gambling industry contributed a record amount to island finances last year, a new report shows. The Alderney Gambling Control Commission's annual report for 2008 has revealed the industry gave more than £3.5m to the States last year. The Commission, which regulates the industry for the States, awarded numerous companies a licence to operate online gambling services in 2008. All the money raised is ploughed back into the island's general revenue fund.
