Deputy joins partnership calls
A Jersey deputy has joined calls for a civil partnership law for gay couples.

England and Wales allowed same-sex couples to register as civil partners in 2005, giving them the same rights as married couples.

Deputy Celia Scott Warren said the current system in Jersey was disjointed because social security recognised a same sex couple as married.

But the tax department does not, so the tax benefits married couples receive are not available.
