An official review has begun into plans to lower the age of consent for gay men in Jersey.
The Corporate Affairs Scrutiny Panel has held the first of three public meetings reviewing proposals to lower the age of consent from 18 to 16.
The panel is questioning ministers and law officers before making its recommendations ahead of a States debate on the issue in late March.
In the meantime, the island's Sexual Offences Law will remain unchanged.
In Jersey it is illegal for gay men to have sex if they are under 18, which is out of step with the UK where the age of consent is 16.
