The people in this settlement have nothing, no wages. We have to live off the land, with no one to help or advise us.

I grow some potatoes, cassava and other vegetables to feed my family and sugar cane to sell in the nearby town, Murici. It's the only money I have to live on. It's only a little.

I don't take anything from the forest and I tell my family not to either.

But we get no advice on how to live without damaging the environment.
