Whenever I pass this case in the "Making the Modern World" Gallery, I take time to look at these Thermionic Valves. They are the first ever diodes in existence, made by Ambrose Fleming in 1904.

I put them together in this case a few months ago and it is the first time they have been displayed together since the mid-1960s.
