Hubble deployed

The Hubble space observatory from its special vantage point above Earth's atmosphere was called in to watch the big crash.

The space telescope snapped this image 62 minutes after the encounter.

The fan of debris is travelling out from the impact site at 1,800km/h, or twice as fast as the speed of a commercial jet.
