However, in 2006, Snuppy�s clone status had to be rechecked after doubts were cast on the work of his creator, Korean scientist Hwang Woo-suk.

While Hwang's human cloning research was found to have been fraudulent, Snuppy passed the clone test, confirming his position as the first dog clone.
