So Kuwait has kept a close eye on Islamists, especially those who have returned from Afghanistan. But its main concern has been Saddam Hussein and it has been supportive of President Bush�s declared intention of effecting a �regime change� in Iraq.
This, Kuwait hopes, would remove the threat it lives under from the Iraqis. Given this background, there is no country in the region more fully supportive of American policy.
