Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries has toasted a 16% rise in full-year profits, thanks to an increase in sales and a number of acquisitions.
For the 12 months to 1 October, the regional brewer and pub group made a pre-tax profit of 90.1m, up from 78m for the year before.
Turnover was also up 16%, rising to 597.3m from 513.7m.
The company said sales were marginally ahead so far in its new financial year, despite weaker consumer confidence.
'Increased efficiency'
During the year Wolverhampton & Dudley took over Burtonwood, Jennings and English Country Inns.
"Our results were achieved by continuing to manage cost pressures and improve operational efficiency, combined with an absolute focus on delivering quality and value to our customers," said chief executive Ralph Findlay.
"As a result, we were able to deliver good organic growth whilst acquiring businesses that met our stringent acquisition criteria."
"Although weaker consumer confidence has produced more subdued trading conditions since the year-end, like-for-like sales are marginally positive against strong comparables in both pub divisions and our performance overall is in line with our expectations."
Wolverhampton & Dudley's brands include Banks and Marston's Pedigree.
