City minister Paul Myners has called on the former boss of the Royal Bank of Scotland to consider doing some charity work to rebuild his reputation, after the controversy over his pension.
Sir Fred Goodwin resigned at the request of the board, rather than be sacked, but left with a pension pot worth £16.6 million.
Speaking to the BBC's business editor Robert Peston, Mr Myners said he understood why there was widespread public and political anger over the size of Sir Fred's pension but the decision had been out of his hands.
