GM: 'British plants are great'

John Smith, General Motors' chief negotiator, has described the two British Vauxhall plants as "great".

His comments follow news that GM has chosen the Canadian car parts manufacturer Magna to buy Opel and its sister company Vauxhall.

Mr Smith said that "Ellesmere Port plant has a long term future for sure" and that discussions are taking place about the Luton plant.
