Calls for better disabled access
Wheelchair
Two buildings were found to be inaccessible by wheelchair
More can be done to help disabled access in part of Guernsey, according to the first audit of a mobility pressure group.

The group RAMP said although it recognised the limitations of historic buildings in St Peter Port, it believed more can be done for people with mobility and sight problems.

Of the 14 town premises surveyed, two were completely inaccessible by wheelchair.

The group wants to see better attention given to levelling thresholds, using non-slip and contrasting flooring and modifying railings.

For people with sight problems, glazed doors and scaffolding are a hazard.

The group said it would like those clearly marked as a matter of course.
