Call for minimum price on alcohol

Guernsey could introduce a minimum price for alcohol to deter under-age drinking in the island.

Director of Public Health, Dr Stephen Bridgeman, says Guernsey should consider following the example of similar proposals in Scotland.

Jersey is also considering making alcohol more expensive and increasing the age at which it can be bought in off-licences from 18 to 21.

Scottish ministers want fixed pricing to combat a serious alcohol problem.
