Manx residents are happy with their force, the survey suggests
People in the Isle of Man are satisfied with the level of service given to them by Manx police, a survey has revealed.

Victims of crime and those involved in road traffic collisions were quizzed, with police receiving back almost 200 of the 600 questionnaires sent out.

The police's handling of burglaries and violent crime met with the highest satisfaction rates. All the results referred to incidents in 2006.

The Isle of Man Constabulary said the results of the survey were pleasing.

More surveys

Victims of crime were asked to rate the competency of the first officer at the scene, whether the overall service was satisfactory and if the level of service exceeded their expectations.

The survey covered general call handling, motor vehicle damage, violent crime, burglary and road traffic collisions.

Insp Richard Power said the results also highlighted a number of areas for further development within the constabulary.

"These include improved processes in updating victims and witnesses on cases and investigations," he said.

"We will conduct further surveys next year to assess our performance."
