Fair rides could be on the move

Recommendations are being made to minimise disturbance
Funfair rides could be moved for next year's Battle of Flowers in Jersey.

Last year the funfair was moved to People's Park from the Lower park on Victoria Avenue for financial reasons and safety concerns.

But residents living nearby complained about the noise, litter and behaviour of some young people.

Now a report recommends the loudest rides move to the end of the park and staff caravans are moved closer to Westmount Road to form a sound barrier.

It also suggests improving lighting to reduce the number of young people drinking and behaving anti-socially.

The report, which details the effects of the funfair on people living near People's Park, is being put forward to the St Helier Roads Committee to try to minimise disturbance.

Battle of Flowers will take place on 11 and 12 August, with an expected 25,000 people attending each parade.
