The Battle of Flowers funfair will be held at People's Park in St Helier this year.
The St Helier Roads Committee granted a one-year trial after the Battle of Flowers Association said the future of the event was at risk if it did not move the funfair from Lower Park.
The association said it was concerned about the safety of people at Lower Park, which was too small and near a main road.
But residents near People's Park are concerned about potential noise and trouble.
Diane Robins, who lives near the park, said: "We have 60-100 people every weekend throwing bottles and it is going to be made worse."
