Report favours bull semen imports
Pure Jersey bull semen should be imported into Jersey to help improve the island's stock, a new report says.

Last year the States commissioned the report on the future of the island's dairy industry from the UK consultants Promar International.

It also says a new dairy site is needed and recommends Howard Davies Farm.

A debate on importing semen was dropped in 2005 after farmers raised concerns it would threaten the island herd's unique status.

The report also advises that by developing its export markets Jersey could reduce milk prices for its island customers.
