Jersey bucks the trend in teaching first aid

Jersey's St John Ambulance trains five times more volunteers than the national average, researchers have found.
The figures come as the charity revealed only one in three people nationwide can treat a minor injury.
It has prompted calls from St John Ambulance for more volunteers to come forward and learn first aid as part of National First Aid Awareness day.
Island statistics show volunteers are bucking the trend, but officials say more first aiders would be a bonus.
The research from St John Ambulance shows most people are ill-equipped to deal with emergencies, like burns, heart attacks or someone choking.
Recovery position
But in Jersey, 2006 figures show 3,833 people were trained - 4.4% of the population.
The UK target is to train more than 1% of the population.
Sue Pugsley, lead trainer in Jersey, said: "If you know how to make a 999 call and put someone into the recovery position that could save a life."
