Six test negative for swine flu

Virus testing
Results have confirmed none of the seven people tested have swine flu

Six people in Jersey with suspected swine flu have tested negative for the virus.

They were the latest patients on the island to report having flu-like symptoms after returning from Mexico.

Jersey's Department of Health said another person had previously tested negative for the virus.

It would not confirm if those tested were tourists or residents but it said it had no outstanding cases and everyone had been cleared.

It said a flu helpline set up on Thursday had received 10 calls.

The helpline is open Monday to Friday from 0830 BST to 1730 BST.

Medical health officer Dr Rosemary Geller said staff would continue to monitor the situation.
