Teachers from across the East Midlands have been honoured for their work at the chalk face.
The Teaching Awards 2005 regional ceremony was held at the University of Nottingham on Friday.
It was a chance for the finalists to pay tribute to the contribution made by their schools.
David Hanson, trust chief executive, said: "Teaching awards winners are ordinary people doing an extraordinary job, day in and day out."
Alan Wheeler, lifetime achievement award winner, said: "It sounds incredible, never would I have dreamed 35 years ago when I started teaching that I would end up here today.
"I can't get used to it."
