Frenchay could be downgraded to a community hospital

The public is being asked to comment on plans for a major shake-up of hospital services in Bristol.
A one-day consultation is being held for people from the South Gloucestershire area who use Bristol hospitals.
The proposed healthcare changes include creating seven community hospitals in the area and combining a number of specialist services.
The consultation will take place in Wotton-under-Edge on 11 November.
An on-going consultation period runs until 10 December.
About 650 Bristol residents were also being surveyed on Wednesday to record their responses to the proposals.
The NHS wants to concentrate specialist treatment at major hospitals in the city and offer other services at a number of sites across the area.
In total, 500m is to be invested into health care in the area, with up to 350m set aside for a new 'super hospital'.
The plans up for discussion:
-
Reducing the status of either Frenchay or Southmead to a community hospital, with just one performing major services such as surgery.
-
Bringing all general surgery and emergency care to Frenchay and treating planned in-patient cases at Southmead.
-
Bringing together ear, nose and throat treatment for adult in-patients to Frenchay Hospital
-
Moving specialist care for very sick children from Southmead and Frenchay to Bristol Royal Hospital for Children within six years.
-
Providing rehabilitation beds for older people recovering from illnesses and major services at centres across the area.
People can give their views at the Civic Centre in Wotton-under-Edge between 1230 and 1700 BST on 11 November.
