Watchdog warns of ward closures
A patient watchdog has expressed concern over suggestions two wards may be closed at a Cornwall hospital.

The Public and Patient Involvement Forum at Treliske Hospital said two wards are likely to shut in a bid reduce a 31m health trust debt.

They fear Pendarves medical ward and Carn Brea cardiac ward could go.

A spokesman for the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust refused to deny the claim, but said specific cost-cutting decisions had not yet been taken.

The trust is facing a projected 31m deficit and having to cut up to 300 jobs.
