Bug college to close for cleaning
Paignton Community College
The college has cancelled events to contain the bug
A south Devon college has decided to close for cleaning after 700 pupils were absent on Thursday because of a highly-contagious stomach bug.

Paignton Community College will be closed next Monday and Tuesday.

The school has also cancelled a parents' evening and called off all its sporting fixtures to stop the bug, which causes vomiting, from spreading.

The same bug affected students at King Edward VI Community College in Totnes a week ago.

Education authority Torbay Council has written to schools in its district with guidelines on how to deal with the bug.

Students are being advised to take extra care in their personal hygiene to stop it spreading further.

Those who have the bug are being told to stay at home for at least 48 hours after the symptoms have cleared up.
