Resort beach in new sand makeover
Poole Harbour
Sand has been dredged from Poole Harbour to deepen its channels
A ceremony is to mark the completion of a major project to spray 120,000 tonnes of sand onto a Dorset beach.

The coast protection scheme at Swanage has made the beach higher and wider.

Sand was dredged from the Swash Channel in Poole Harbour over Christmas and the New Year, then dumped on Swanage beach through a 750m (half-mile) pipeline.

The sea wall has also been repaired and 18 new timber groynes built. South Dorset MP Jim Knight is due to unveil a plaque on Saturday.

He will be joined by councillor Roy Anderson for the ceremony at the northern end of Shore Road.
