Visitors to the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) in Slimbridge, Gloucestershire, can now get close-up views from a new kingfisher hide.

The hide has a partial turf roof in order to blend into the landscape, with low windows overlooking the bird feeding station.

The WWT said that three kingfishers have already set up home since the hide was completed earlier this year.

Organisers hope that families will visit over Easter.

The feature was opened by television presenter, Philippa Forrester on Monday afternoon.

Ms Forrester said: "Kingfishers are seldom seen. The hide is a fabulous achievement."
