PM quizzed over hospital's future
A Worcestershire MP has challenged the Prime Minister over the future of hospital services in the county.

Julie Kirkbride, MP for Bromsgrove, said the Alexandra Hospital's A&E unit in Redditch was under threat and maternity services were being cut.

The Tory questioned the government's commitment to the NHS in the county during Prime Minister's Questions.

Mr Blair said it had given 509m to the county's three primary care trusts this year, 10% above last year's budget.

But he said action needed to be taken to ensure the trusts balanced the books.
