Third swine flu case at college

A third pupil at a public school in Worcestershire has been diagnosed with swine flu.

There is one other suspected case at Malvern College and a number of other pupils have reported feeling unwell.

Headmaster Antony Clark said pupils had been given antiviral treatments but lessons would resume on Thursday.

A case of swine flu at Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, has also been confirmed while pupils in Hagley have been alerted to a case in the village.

Mr Clark said the cases at the 630-pupil school, which has students aged 13 to 18, appeared to be mild.

Patient isolated

Nineteen more people across the West Midlands were confirmed to have swine flu on Wednesday, the NHS said.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said there were now 161 confirmed cases of the virus across the region.

The Alexandra Hospital said one of its patients was diagnosed with swine flu on 4 June.

The patient was immediately put into isolation and sent home.

The staff who treated the patient were also given Tamiflu.

Pupils at Hagley Primary School were given a letter to their parents as they went home advising them to look for symptoms in themselves and their children.

It said a new case had been confirmed within the village, but stressed the case was not connected to the school.
