Librarian's award speaks volumes
A librarian at Leicester's De Montfort University scooped a national teaching award worth 50,000.

Academic librarian Jo Webb picked up the honour in recognition of her efforts to make library services more student friendly.

Her initiatives have included rewriting library guides in an accessible style and setting up a reception desk for new students in the city.

She will use the cash for a study to help make reading more effective.

De Montfort University has now received seven Teaching Fellowships since the scheme began - the joint highest number in the country.

Ms Webb said: "I am surprised and thrilled to be given a fellowship. It is fantastic.

"When students come to university, they have to spend a lot of time reading and researching. My job is to help make that process as easy for them as possible."
