Campaigners win road safety fight
The bus
Five people died in a bus crash in Easter 2004
Safety measures are being introduced on a Lincolnshire road where five people died after being struck by a bus.

Thousands of people signed a petition calling for improvements to Sea Lane at Ingoldmells, near Skegness, after the accident in 2004.

The county council now plans to part-pedestrianise the road and reduce the speed limit from 40mph to 30mph.

The bus company Lincolnshire Roadcar and the bus driver involved in the crash are being prosecuted.

Councillors have recommended the new safety measures should be in place by Easter.

The plans will go before a planning committee for final approval at the end of February.

The five who died were Joanna Warren, 37, from Braunstone, Leicester, and her two young sons, Jacob, five, and four-month-old Leyton.

Married couple Richard and Paula Rhodes, from Mansfield, also died.
