Ancient woods given 1m makeover
Ancient woodland in Lincolnshire is being enhanced and protected thanks to a 1m lottery grant.

The Lincolnshire Limewoods, which covers more than 60 sq miles (97 sq-km) between Wragby, Bardney and Woodhall Spa dates back to prehistoric times.

The Heritage Lottery funded project will promote and protect the area, which contains rare lime trees.

Project officer, Liz Fleurty said the aim was to highlight the importance of the woods to residents.

Said Liz Fleurty: "One of the main aims is to improve access to the woodland.

"There's so much to explore here but very few people know anything about the area. We want to get the woodland in tip top condition and get information out to people."

The Lincolnshire Limewoods Project, is run by a partnership which includes the county council and the Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire.
