'Safe zones' for summer drinkers
Police say 'safe zones' offering advice to summer drinkers are being set up in towns across Lincolnshire after last year's initiative was a success.

The zones aim to give advice to people on a night out on issues including pregnancy and drug and alcohol abuse.

Organisers said more than 1,800 people used the pilot facility in Skegness last summer.

Those out drinking and clubbing in Louth, Mablethorpe and Ingoldmells will now also have access to the zones.

'Immediate access'

They are being staffed from 1900 BST to 2230 BST on various dates in July and August.

Police enforcement officers will also be present and will be using drugs testing equipment to carry out checks on licensed premises.

A mobile CCTV camera will also be in use at the events.

John Fleming, Community Safety Officer from East Lindsey District Council, said: "The 'Safe Zones' offer people out enjoying the nightlife during high summer the opportunity of immediate access to local services and advice.

"Based on last year's numbers, we're expecting a busy six nights across the east coast."
