Aaron had spent time helping in an Ecuadorian orphanage

Aaron Goss, 17, of Rushden, Northamptonshire, died in Tena on 26 July while swimming with other pupils from Wollaston School.

His body was discovered five days later in the Rio Anzu river.

More than 300 people attended the service at St Mary's Parish Church, in Rushden, on Friday.

Alexander Goss, 21, said his brother "always had a smile on his face".

He told the congregation: "Happiness for Aaron would come from many different sources.

"He was always driven in every single situation and determined to succeed and get the best out of life."

Sebastian Goss, 19, performed a song called On Top Of The World, written as a tribute to his younger brother.

'Dedicated family'

Rev Barry Morrison said: "It has been both humbling and inspiring and uplifting to think of such a gifted and dedicated member of such a gifted and dedicated family."

Aaron's family have set up a fund to send equipment to the Ecuadorian fire service who helped in the hunt.

They said the people who helped in the search for Aaron were "of the highest calibre".

They said: "The fire brigade especially demonstrated a particularly high standard of professionalism, refusing money and working with the most basic equipment.

"They even have to share boots between officers."

The family said they were going to send equipment to the Ecuadorian Fire Brigade with the help of the Northamptonshire Fire Service.
