Residents warned of tram work
Nottingham tram officials are warning residents to expect noise from track grinding overnight, at the weekend, and for the following fortnight.

The work is routine maintenance which will need to be done every year or so.

The grinding machine takes off uneven surfaces which create noise and vibration during tram journeys and an uncomfortable ride for passengers.

Tram spokesman Colin Lea said the grinding work will be starting in Hucknall on Saturday.

Mr Lea said: "We're really telling people to, if they can, to keep their windows closed at night.

"If they live particularly close to the route they may perhaps wish to stay with relatives or friends, or sleep in a back bedroom.

"We do expect that it may well cause some noise which would keep people up."
