Central Trains are changing their timetables in parts of the East Midlands following an uproar over earlier reductions in service.
The previous timetable aimed to make services more punctual, but many commuters said it failed.
The new Central Trains timetable came into effect on 11 June.
The changes include a self-contained Nottingham, Derby, Birmingham service providing important performance benefits for passengers, the firm said.
'We listened'
Extra carriages will also be added to the busiest Skegness services for the rest of the summer, including the key Saturday-morning service from Nottingham which will be lengthened from two to five carriages.
The changes introduced in December 2005 had resulted in fewer stops at some smaller stations during the morning rush hours.
The service at Netherfield station - just three miles (4.8 km) from Nottingham - had only one train between 0651 and 0830.
Two more trains will now stop at the station in that time period - bringing the service back to its previous level.
Central Trains spokesman Ged Burgess said: "A lot of people were helped by the December timetable changes and it is a matter of trying to help one group without taking trains off others.
"In order to make the timetable work there will be winners and losers - but we have had a look at this one and put (some of the stops) back in the timetable."
The new Crewe-to-Derby service means that passengers will have better connections at Derby to and from Nottingham.
