Memorial appeal over bypass death
Howard Hillsdon

The family of a man who died along with three young boys in a horrific head-on smash in May are trying to raise money for a memorial.

Howard Hillsdon, 21, was killed in the smash on Oxford's Eastern Bypass when his car collided with another carrying seven boys on a birthday outing.

His family are holding a family fun day at Woodstock pool on Friday - where he worked as a lifeguard.

They want to raise enough for a bench and a plaque in his memory.

The crash, which involved five cars, is thought to have happened when a Citroen Xsara, driven by the mother of one of the surviving boys, crossed the central reservation of the A4142 eastern bypass.

It is then thought to have collided with Mr Hillsdon's Honda.

Josh Bartlett and Marshall Haynes, both 13, and their friend Liam Hastings, also 13, died.

The driver of the Xsara - the mother of one of the boys - who was in a critical condition in hospital has now returned home.
