They include a circular route to link Horspath with Shotover Country Park near Oxford and a route for disabled people at Harcourt Arboretum.

There are about 350 farmland walks and rides across the South East, 50 of which were added this year. Forty-nine of the walks are in Oxfordshire.

The new walks are included in Defra's 2005 guide to country walks which has just been published.

Louise Allen, of Harcourt Arboretum, said: "The new wheelchair path through the meadow at the University of Oxford Harcourt Arboretum will give disabled visitors a unique opportunity to experience our 35-acre wildflower meadow.

"This path will enable a much wider range of the local community to visit the site, not just those people who are fit and active and will have a major benefit to existing visitors and also to new visitors."

The walks are being developed as part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme which gives grants to farmers and other land managers to create new footpaths, bridleways and areas of open access.
