Money for dialysis unit delayed
Princess Royal Hospital
The unit can treat 30 patients a week
Funding for a temporary 1m kidney dialysis unit at a Shropshire hospital has been put on hold.

Plans for a six station unit at the Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, were announced last week.

The strategic health authority, which is to provide more than 500,000, has said it wants to see a business plan to ensure value for money.

Patients who need dialysis treatment in Telford currently have to travel to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

The strategic health authority said it wants to see the cases for a temporary unit and a permanent one so it can examine all of the options.

The temporary unit can treat 30 patients a week in converted offices and it was due to open in three months.

A hospital spokesman said this latest request should not lead to any delay.
