Vandals in 120,000 attack on spa
Broken glass panels at the Bath Spa project
Vandals smashed eight glass panels
Vandals have caused 120,000 of damage to the already over-budget and overdue Bath Spa project.

Thugs targeted the thermal spa complex in the city centre over the New Year bank holiday weekend, smashing eight large glass panels.

The windows will have to be replaced - at a cost of 12,000 to 15,000 each - but a council spokeswoman said the work would not cause any further delays.

The project is already two years behind schedule with no opening date in sight.

A spokeswoman said: "It will not add any extra delay.

"The building and site is the responsibility of Mowlem, the main contractor, but there will be a joint insurance claim between Mowlem and ourselves."

It is believed the project, which was originally expected to cost 19m, will now cost as much as twice that amount.
