Local residents offered spa tours
Bath Spa
The spa project is currently some three years overdue
People living in Bath and North East Somerset are being given guided tours around the troubled 37.5m Spa project.

The long-awaited spa is due to open to the public next Easter after several years of delays and legal wrangles.

But from Sunday, local residents eager to see what their council tax money is being spent on can book places on special tours of the building site.

Only 10 people will be allowed in at any one time, and would-be visitors must reserve places in advance.

Councillor Nicole O'Flaherty said: "We have to make sure the site visits do not delay the work at all, which is why we cannot make the whole building available and why we are only taking bookings for a month at a time."

The Spa project, which almost three times over-budget and three years overdue, has been marred by a very public falling out between the council and contractor Mowlem.

The site visits will be held every hour on the hour between 1000 BST and 1600 BST each Sunday in July.
