Warning to avoid polluted river
People are being advised to keep children and pets away from a polluted stretch of water on Teesside.

A 10km stretch of the River Tame and its tributary, Main Stell, near Stokesley, south of Middlesbrough, has been affected.

According to the Environment Agency, most of the aquatic life in the area has been killed.

James Parker, enviroment management leader, said an investigation into what had caused the pollution was underway.

He said: "We started investigating the source of the pollution as soon as it was reported, but it is odourless and has not discoloured the river much, so the water may look normal."
