Paula Maguire, 27, from Deganwy, Conwy, said she parked at Trinity Square while she went to the bank, on what was to be her last driving trip before the birth.

But on her return a parking attendant presented her with the penalty.

A Conwy council spokeswoman said an appeals procedure was available if Ms Maguire wanted to contest the ticket.

"I went to the bank and when I got back the parking attendant was there," she said.

"I nearly cried when I realised what had happened, and he just told me I could appeal against the ticket if I wanted.

Ms Maguire said she was just an inch over the line

"Workmen nearby saw what happened though and were shouting abuse at him, so in the end I laughed."

But Ms Maguire, who is due to give birth within a couple of weeks, said she would now appeal against the ticket.

She took photographs of the car with her mobile phone, and the workmen took a photograph of her standing by the car.

A Conwy council spokeswoman said: "We have an appeals procedure and therefore we'd suggest the motorist follows the appropriate course of action as printed on the ticket."
