Speedway expects actor back
Jason Priestley
Priestley is expected to make a full recovery
Jason Priestley's manager has said the actor will return to the racing circuit after recovering from a near-fatal speedway crash earlier this month.

Jim Freudenberg, who manages the Kelley Racing team for which Priestley drives, said on Monday he fully expected the actor to get back behind the wheel.

"I would be surprised if his racing days are over," he said. "He's a fighter, one of the toughest little guys I know."

Priestley, who was released from Indianapolis Methodist Hospital on Saturday, suffered fractures to his back, feet and nose as well as concussion and multiple cuts and bruises in the crash at Kentucky Speedway.

He is now in a rehabilitation centre and is expected to remain there for up to eight weeks.

Doctors say he will make a full recovery.

"He's in some pain," Freudenberg said. "His pain tolerance is higher than most individuals. He's not complaining at all. He's got the best attitude."

The 32-year-old star was injured when his open-wheel car spun out of control at 180mph and hit a wall nearly head-on during practice for the Infiniti Pro Series, a developmental circuit for the Indy Racing League.

Priestley become a worldwide star, and hearthrob, as Brandon Walsh in US teen drama series Beverly Hills 90210 between 1990 and 1998.

He also starred in a critically acclaimed production of the hit Broadway play Side Man on London's West End stage.
