A National Audit Office report released in January 2009 revealed Guernsey owns a rich and even bewildering store of more than 80,000 historical artefacts. Some of these can be seen in the island's various museums or in the corridors of some public buildings; but the majority are stored away in a whole series of locations around the island. Lack of space means that these storage areas are not always ideal and many of these items are never seen by their owners - the people of Guernsey. The variety of artefacts in store is quite simply mind boggling, from tiny insects to glasshouse boilers and a semi complete Roman ship to a model tram. Eddie Parks has been rummaging in some of the island's best hidden cupboards and store rooms and over the next few days and weeks he will be sharing with us an intimate look at Guernsey's Hidden Heritage. Check back here to see items as the series continues and listen out for Eddie on BBC Guernsey throughout the day.
