Chico

It's Chico time in Jersey

By Claire Peters
X Factor star Chico is travelling to the island on 01 December to turn on the Christmas lights at 18:30 at Charing Cross, after which he will be performing in both Chicago Rock Cafe and Liquid Nightclub.

Chico, a finalist in the 2005 series of X Factor, will be appearing in Jersey on Friday, 01 December to switch on the Christmas lights.

Luminar Jersey, who are flying the star over to the island for the event, have been in consultation with Jersey Tourism to find a celebrity that will appeal to both adults and children, and believe that Chico “fits the bill perfectly”.

If seeing him turn on the lights at 18:30 at Charing Cross is not enough Chico for you, you’ll be able to catch him performing his number one hit ‘It’s Chico Time’ and ‘C.H.I.C.O.’ in Chicago Rock Café at 22:30.

There will also be a chance to meet the great man himself and maybe even get your hands on his autograph after a second performance in Liquid Nightclub at 23:00.

If you think that you’ve got what it takes to be the next Chico, there is still time to enter Liquid’s search for a Channel Islands Idol:
Have you got what it takes to be Channel Islands Idol? >

Liverpool DJ collective Ultrabeat, best known for their hit Pretty Green Eyes, will also be appearing at Liquid on Friday, 01 December.

THEY SHOULD BRING REAL CELEBRITIES,HOW ABOUT JIMMY SAVILLE OR RUSS ABBOTT. PERHAPS THEY ARE TOO DEAR. OK JASON DONOVAN:ALTOGETHER TO MANY BROKEN HEARTS IN THE WORLD,OK SHAKIN STEVENS.

salli
why are people complaining about him he was good for the familys and children and i think he was a good person 2 turn on the lights! x

charmaine
Hi he is brill im a BIG fan of chico i can't get over of me touching and meeting chico !!!

Taffy
Oh for goodness sake, it hasnt cost anyone anything only luminar, he was absolutely fantastic, and not a loser at all, he took part in the X factor and thats all that matters, you have to be in it to win it!! Hes a great performer and very down to earth. And I bet hes got a heck of a lot more personality than all you lot - havent seen yous on the tele/stage etc !! WAS A FAB NITE AND AM A CHICETTE :-)

alicia
i think CHICO was cool. didn't like him on the x factor coz he did my head in but when i saw him at the turning on of the christmas lights i thought he rocked.

Andy
Hey, he's a good entertainer and the kids love him, so stop acting like a good Jersey person and be positive instead of negative the entire time !

Bored1
I agree Chico is not a "great man" but at the end of the day isnt he and other X factor contestants just trying to make a living! and if some1 is happy to pay them then whats the harm! If you dont like him dont go! simple as that! also to the people supporting chico, just remember that those complaining are the type of people who complain about everything, hence the comments about the states!

JJ
I'd Like to say welcome to Jersey Chico, we are not all sour pusses, I think there appears to be an element of jealous against your success.

Dahla
I love Chico, I will definately be at charing cross

Clay
Anne, if you don't want to see Chico then don't go down to the Royal Square tonight to see him. It's quite simple. What Luminar decide to spend their money on is entirely up to them. I for one think its nice that they are putting on a free event for islanders. No one asked them to and I'm quite looking forward to a big switching on of the christmas lights.

mimi
CAN SOMEONE CONFIRM EXACTLY WHERE THE LIGHTS WILL BE TURNED ON ROYAL SQUARE OR CHARING CROSS?????

PC do nothing
The kids will want to go and see the lights being turned on, Chico has current 'celebrity' status, its costing nothing to the taxpayer so what exactly is the problem? Stop moaning. Anne (Hospital) - the States is full of 2nd rate acts already so you should be used to it. John S - Are you David Kirsh' PR man or something? Blatant unnecessary name dropping !!

Hannah
Seriously?! Don't bring a "celeb" over at all if you can't get a real one!

Dave
I always thought that the winner of X Factor was the star. You may as well just make it to the last 12 and your quids in. Andy at the Battle of Flowers was the biggest laugh. They cannot be called musicians as they only ever sing covers. At least I guess, the tax payer isn't paying for it. If they were, then there would really be a mailstorm.

"D.J MOO MOO
WHAT HAS DAVID KIRSCH GOT TO DO WITH CHICO????????????

ANNE (HOSPITAL)
ROBERT WHICH BIT OF DON,T WANT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND. WE DON,T WANT 2ND RATE ACT,S ON OUR ISLAND.FREE OR HAVING TO PAY????

A.S
ARE THEY TURNING THE LIGHTS ON IN THE ROYAL SQUARE ROR CHARING CROSS?

Ed
Chico: "the great man". For some reason I don't agree with that...

Kiara
I'm quite looking forward to seeing Chico! Granted; he's not the best singer in the world, but he is fun to watch and is a great laugh! I think bringing Chico over is a good person to bring over, It's better than having someone that noone has ever heard of! Chico will bring children to the occasion and if you don't like him, DON'T COME! It's your decision! But I am certainly going to see him!

Robert
Its about time the Jersey community stopped moaning and got into the real world ... Its a free event!

sharon osbourne
its chico time!

John S
David Kirsh has done more to show the true spirit of Christmas with his gift to the elderly of Jersey, but yet again, the public opinion is unwanted, uncalled for and ignored. But then who can actually say they voted for Frank Walker?

ANON
I AM ONLY EXPRESSING MY THOUGHTS,IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THEM,EXPRESS YOUR OWN THOUGHTS ON THIS LINK IF YOU DARE!!!!!!!!!!!!

POOF CASSIDY "ooh".
I WILL DO IT "FREE" AND IM BETTER THAN THIS SHOW OFF!! ITS "CHEAPO-TIME". AT LEAST THE BEANS WILL GET IT "FREE" FREE, FREE"" CHEAP AS CHITS.....

Anon2
Anon - what if I don't like people swearing? Can they be removed from this board. I was forced to read your comment when I clicked on the link, I did'nt have a choice there.

Anon
I think people should stop [...] moaning and just get on with life! it's a free event not being met by taxpayers money, stop moaning and [...] get on with life, if you don't like Chico or think he's a waste of space, then simple solution is DONT GO! no one is forcing you too!

Jack
When you get booted out of the X Factor now, they'll just tell you that you are off to Jersey, with the rest of the losers!

Rob
I cant wait to see chico, i think it will be great fun !!! Then Liquid, apparently ultrabeat will be doing a dj set too !

MARY (BOOTS)
THE AMOUNT OF MONEY IT IS COSTTING TO BRING CHICO HERE IS NOT WORTH IT. I AGREE WITH NEIL.

Hoon
Yeah, but remember its costing Luminar, not us! I'm quite looking forward to it - i think he's hilarious

Ryan (Host)
We don't know how much it's costing to bring Chico over as the bill is being met by a private company and not the tax payer.

Luminar Leisure are bringing Chico over to perform at Liquid and Chicago Rock as well as judge the Liquid CI Idol competition.

He'll be turning the lights on as part of that deal while he's here.

Jason
What talent? Nothing but a blown up nobody. And how much is this costing?

NEIL
HOW MUCH IS IS CHICO CHARGING TO PUT LIGHTS ON?????

Joker C
Love him or hate him he would have been a much better pick for the Battle of Flowers than boring Andy.

Ben
How can you say "the great man" he was a loser on X factor nothing more. only suitable for a battle of flowers appearance
